Mother’s Day Message – Canaanite Woman

He will be silent until we press through.

The Faith of a Canaanite Woman

21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.
– Matthew 15:21 (NIV)

20 Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
– Matthew 11:20-22 (NIV)

22A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”
– Matthew 15:22 (NIV)

23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”
– Matthew 15:23 (NIV)

24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”
– Matthew 15:24 (NIV)

26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
– Acts 3:26 (NIV)

25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.
– Matthew 15:25 (NIV)

26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
– Matthew 15:26 (NIV)

27 “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”
– Matthew 15:27 (NIV)

28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.
– Matthew 15:28 (NIV)

11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
– John 1:11 (NIV)

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
– Romans 1:16 (NIV)

Things to Remember:

We are all Family.

28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
– Galatians 3:28 (NIV)
